“…him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37
Dear Ones:
The uniqueness of Christ is a most remarkable consideration, especially as it pertains to His openness and receptivity. What do we mean by this? Never has there been an individual who would be open to receiving EVERY person who would come to Him. This would apply to those who were convinced of their need to come, and those, who were antagonistic against the Lord. What does this mean to us? It means that there is not a moment, not a circumstance, when the Son of God is not open and desiring that we come individually to Him…IN FULL ASSURANCE OF FAITH. We seem to forget that the Son of God came to be minister, or serve, not to be ministered to. He came to SEEK and to SAVE that which was lost. His whole nature is love, the very power and energy of His life. He never ceases to give of Himself, and that which is good. The question then is not whether He will receive us by name, but whether we will come, being SURE that He is there, waiting, and will receive us.
That which precedes our coming is always a result of the working of God in the heart, the work of the Father by the Spirit. Our enemy, the devil, would have us to believe that God picks favorites, but this is not so. Scripture tells us that He, Christ, “…by the grace of God should taste death for EVERY man.” (Heb. 2:9) Isaiah tells us that, “…the Lord hath laid on Him (Christ) the iniquity of us ALL.” (Is. 53:6) And lastly, John writes the great words, “…For God so loved the WORLD, that He gave His only begotten Son…that we should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Jn. 3:16) It is a most wonderful truth that “…All that the Father giveth Me (the Lord Jesus) shall come to me.” (Jn. 6:37) What is He saying? Practically speaking, if there is a thought, or desire, or inclination to come to Christ, the source is the Father. It is the Father, by the Spirit, who is speaking, drawing out our hearts to Him. When we see the various, and individual meetings that the Lord Jesus had with those in need, we are amazed by the uniqueness of every individual, and the difference in their circumstances, and needs. And yet, Jesus receives them all individually, and addresses their particular need, whether healing, forgiveness of sins, or deliverance. There is not one person that He turned away. When there was a cry of the heart to God, even in the midst of a crowd of people thronging Him, the Lord Jesus would hear it, and respond. What does this knowledge do for us, and how does it apply to us?
Since the word of God tells us that “…Jesus Christ (is) the same yesterday, and today, and for ever,” (Heb. 13:8), we can take His words by the mouth of Jeremiah, and apply them to our hearts. “And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I WILL BE FOUND OF YOU, saith the Lord.” (Jer. 29:13) Jesus would say the same thing: “Seek and you will find…for (everyone) that seeketh, findeth.” If there is the thought, or the desire, in the heart to seek God, in order to find Him, one can be sure that God has put that desire there, accompanied with a promise…”…And you WILL find Me…”
Dear Father, open our eyes to see something of Your heart, a heart like none other. We thank Thee that You are always, at any moment in time, willing that we should come to You, not only to seek, but to find You. Strengthen our hearts to come, believing, receiving, responding to the overtures of Your heart. Meet us O God, and we shall live indeed for Thy glory and honor. In Jesus’ name, we thank Thee, Amen.
Love, Dad
