Dear Ones:
There is an element of excitement when we are trusting God, and this, for several reasons. The highest is perhaps the great motive and power of God as revealed in the love of Christ. “He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us ALL, how shall He not WITH HIM, also freely give us all things?” (Rom. 8:32) The second reason has to do with His goodness, and as David puts it, we are to “…taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Ps. 34:8) What follows is the consideration that God gives that which is GOOD, and the highest form of that goodness is the LIFE of His dear Son, by the Spirit. So, to our loving Father, for whom nothing is to hard, or impossible, we need to look up, and receive by faith every day, every morning, all that He desires to give according to His “good and perfect will,” enabling us to show forth that goodness and Divine love to a lost and dying world. But how is this to be done, and on a daily basis? The answer is simply that of “climbing into the saddle”…and staying in it.
What is this “saddle?” It is that position of faith that we take every morning, as soon as our feet hit the floor. It is that aligning of our hearts and minds with the great truth(s) of the gospel, and the Person and Example of Christ. And it is that attitude of mind and heart that we make our own whereby we abide in Christ, deriving all from Him, as we go out into the day. Our position of victory: We were crucified with Christ, died with Him, were buried with Him, raised with Him, and now…this day…this moment…seated IN HIM in heavenly places, complete and victorious. We are IN Him, and He is IN us, and all fullness is IN Him. Where does the inspiration and strength come from to take such a marvelous position of faith, in order to be in that place throughout the day where we can receive from Him all that is GOOD? It comes from the early perusal, reading, and study of the Word of God, ever dependent upon the great KEY to the word of God, which is the Spirit of God our Teacher. Christ strengthens us, inspires us, motivates us…”He will not fail; He will prevail…,” and so will we BY Him, as we remain in the saddle.
So, today, let us trust Him for grace to climb into the saddle of His finished work on Calvary, and let us grasp our union with Him, and the great goodness of God toward us. And then, regardless of the roughness of the ride, let us trust Him to keep us in that saddle, receiving and giving that which is good to others for His sake.
Love, Dad
