“He that goes forth, weeping, bearing precious see, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:6
Dear Ones:
In our day and time, there are many who think that believing in God, in Christ, is an anomaly, that which is not normal. However, the contrary is true. It is the great “norm” in the sight of God that all mankind believe in their Creator, and Redeemer. It is the true “norm” that we live by a personal faith in a personal God, and that this faith touches every aspect of our living.
One aspect of this normal life of faith, is the consideration of “precious seed.” In Christ’s parable of the Sower and the Seed, He declares: “….He that received seed (the word of the kingdom) into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.” (Matt. 13:22) We might wonder what the relationship is between the “word of the kingdom,” and faith? The word of the kingdom is God’s declared TRUTH concerning Himself, our spiritual condition, and His remedy for every need, especially that which is eternal. It is as this word is declared, proclaimed, taught, and believed in, that God, by His Spirit, works in the heart and mind of the hearer. The seed is a truth, or truths, according to which God can give the power to believe, this to the willing heart. It is “precious” because it is the means by which one comes to true LIFE, eternal life in Christ. Consequently, it is that means by which the Spirit of God works to produce good fruit in the life.
In a comparable parable, one that deals with many of the same truths, Jesus said: “He that sows the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the world, the good seed are the children of the kingdom, and the tares are the children of the wicked one.” (Matt. 13:38) The Lord takes the application of “seed” beyond the essential of TRUTH necessary for saving faith, to the realization of that true faith in the heart of the “children of the kingdom.” Truth, in essence, becomes flesh. As believers make the truth their own by faith, it becomes them. The spoken, written word of Christ, of the kingdom, has its effect in the receiving of faith by the hearers, the believing of God IN TRUTH.
What therefore is the hope, and anticipated objective of such a parable? It is found in Psalm 126:6, “…(the sower of the precious seed) shall DOUBTLESS come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” There is GREAT certainty of God working when His word is declared. “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall NOT return unto Me void (without effect), but IT SHALL accomplish that which I please, and it shall proper in the thing where to I sent it.” (Is. 55:11)
Dear Father, enable us to read, study, and obey Thy Word, as those who are filled, but who have an increasing thirst for Thee. Grant us such a balanced knowledge of Thy Word, that we shall have in mind and heart that which we can communicate effectively to others. Then, whether by conversation or preaching, others will hear Thy word, Thy voice, and respond to Thee. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love, Dad
