“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27
Dear Ones:
In our consideration of God, and this life of faith, to which we have been called, we must always seek to grasp something of the greatness of God. The idea of greatness begins in the infinitely small matters of creation, and extend to the very power expressed by the word of God, bringing all creation into being. This greatness is higher than mind and heart can grasp, higher than all knowledge revealed in the known universe. It is deeper than what our minds can fathom with regard to the depths of the sea. But, perhaps the greatest attribute of God’s greatness is seen in His power, controlled, measured, absolutely perfect in its application and execution. It is a power that manifests itself in the elements of nature, and yet, most beautifully, by the love of God revealed to us in Christ. Why is it so needful to grasp something of His greatness, seeking to understand its application by His love? If faith is to believe God for the impossible, then love must be seen as the supreme motive of His heart.
Before Israel was taken into exile, even during the occupation, God was speaking through the prophet Jeremiah, in order to stir up the heart of the people to have hope. There would come an end to the suffering accompanying the seventy years of exile. God promised to bring Israel back to the land, to heal her and restore her to Himself…to “fill to the full” the hearts of the priests, and to comfort her people. In the current events of that time, it would only be possible for one to have this hope, IF one believed in the greatness, goodness, and faithfulness of God. The call was for an individual and corporate faith in the faithfulness of God…resolute, unwavering faith.
Jesus once said, “…the things that are impossible with men are possible with God.” Do we truly believe that God is the doer of the impossible? Do we truly believe that He is good, desiring the best and highest experience of His love for His children? It is in the knowledge of His greatness and love, that in the difficult, and supposedly “hopeless” moment, we are called to set ourselves, and resolutely stand firm by His grace, believing, until we SEE the glory of God?
Dear Father, open our eyes to see Thy greatness, even in the small things. Enable us to grasp Love’s motive, and live to overcome all adversity and opposition to faith. Then we shall SEE Thee move in wonderful ways, for Thy glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love, Dad
