“Fear God, and give glory to Him: for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7
The former verse can be seen today, assuming it has not been removed in protest, on a bronze plaque embedded in a cement-rock, protective wall, in the Swiss Alps. The view from that very elevated vantage point is extraordinary, as it captures the magnificence of the Alps, God’s power in creation. Who could have put such a verse there, and for what purpose? It just may be “…for such a time as this,” when the bulwarks of truth and Godly righteousness are being assailed by Satan, and those who would follow him. It is at this time in history when the coming of the Lord seems so very close, that we have need to regain a right perspective, in the manner that is possible, of God, who He is, and what man’s responsability is towards Him. At the end of the day, whether it be on an individual basis, or that of nations, we shall ALL appear before God to give an account. That accounting will be absolute, and perfect, with no deceit, hidden agendas, no lies, only the truth in perfect detail, whether by word, thought, deed, that which has been done and lived, either good or bad. All shall be made blatantly open, clearly seen, and exposed. It is then that the awful moment will come concerning a great many souls, for in the moment when all reckonning has been revealed, perfect judgement will be applied. It will be a judgement that is perfect in every way, and everything weighed against basically one thing, or Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is not only the absolute truth, the only Savior of the world, but also the only and total standard of what is right, and perfect, in the sight of God. Ultimately, all judgment will come back to this question: “How did you respect My Son?” In Psalm 2:12, we read: “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.” The Father, who came in a cloud the day of the transfiguration of the Lord Jesus, declared to the three disciples, Peter, James and John, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye Him.” (Matt. 16:5) What will occur for those who refuse to acknowlege the very begotton Son of God, refusing to hear Him? What do you think will be the end of those who refuse to “kiss the Son,” show affection for this perfect, beloved Son of the Father?
What happened in Jesus’ parable concerning those persons who treated badly treated the Master’s servants, eventally killing His Son, His heir? And lastly, what will occur if one is faced with the fact that the Father, before the foundatio of the world, provided a single, solitary answer for the salvation of mankind in His Son? What will He do to those for whom He sent Christ to save, but would not? They will be judged with a perfect judgment, especially in light of the inexpressible blessing of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, not only as one’s Savior and Lord, but as one’s life What then shall we do? Is not the plaque in the Alps issuing to mankind today, an Divine ultimatum and call to repent and believe in the Son of God to be saved with a perfect salvation?
The Gospel of Christ is a powerful message, so powerful that it can lead a person, any person, to a saving knowledge of Christ. How is this so? The Gospel contains blessed eternal, absolute truths, which bring a lost soul, not only to see his lostness and hopelessness, but also, the perfect remedy for sin, and the absolute answer to death. These truths bring the soul face to face with Christ alone, whose mercy and grace saves completely today.
Dear Father, Save us now from judgment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
