“When ye pray, say, ‘Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.'” Luke 11:2
Meeting with God, having communion with Him, is as certain as He is faithful. Why? First of all, it is because of Christ, and HIs finished work on Calvary. In the gospel record of Christ’s crucifixion, we have the unveiling of something of the suffering servant of God, the Son who was given, when He died upon the cross. The believer is ever called upon, as the Lord said: “Remember Me.” If love is to have its perfect work in us, and there being a proper response of our hearts towards God, according to what He has revealed to us of His love, then we must remember Christ, and what it cost the Father, Son, and the Spirit, to “…make a sinner whole.” Never in the history of the world has such a love story been so immaculately crafted for its beneficiaries to understand. And never has there been such a more beautiful proclamation and demonstration of that love for the unlovely as the spotless Son of God “bearing all ill for me,” for us. This is love which is not of this world, but a love which can be revealed powerfully in this world even today. It is revealed by the Spirit of Christ in HIs church, as she abides in Him, and He in her, by faith. In light of this great reality and truth, what is the essential element between God and man whereby there is the realization of such a marvelous, and beautiful demonstration of the love of God today? The answer is found in one’s access to the throne of God, a penetration into the Holy of Holies in the temple of God, and finally, in the meeting alone with the Father in the secret place, there to worship God in truth by the Spirit.
In the consideration of the believer’s access to the throne of God, into the Holy of Holies, and then meeting with God in aloneness, we must ask ourselves the question: What is the primary reason for man’s existence? Why was he created, and why did Christ ultimately go to the cross to make, and reveal, the certain way to enter and know God’s presence? The answer is a simple one, and Divinely inspired and realized uniquely by God Himself. It is that man might truly KNOW God, and that by an experiential, truth-filled knowledge of God, the very life of Christ by the Spirit being revealed in and through man for the everlasting glory of God. Man was not created to do something for God, for God can do all things which are worthy of His great and wonderful name. Neither was man created to help or satisfy some need that God might have. God is totally independent of man both in His existence, and the full and completeness of His nature. He has no fault nor need, nothing that man in and of himself can supply, to contribute to His well being. Though God is a person as is revealed to us in the Father, then the Son, and the Holy Spirit, there is nothing in that revelation that teaches us that God “needs” man to be fulfilled, or become satisfied. He is God, the only HOLY God, the author and sustainer of life, Savior of men, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. So if God is perfect needing nothing, then why is His objective for creating man that he should know Him? The highest and most eleveated experience of man before the Fall was the same as now, after it. In the measure that the Life of God in Christ, by the Spirit, was and is revealed in man, God is glorified. This means that God has given Himself completely in love, in Christ, to mankind. In the measure that man can receive Him by faith, and abide in Christ, man can know Christ’s fulness by the Spirit’s power.
Dear Father, Make us know Thee. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
These truths are too wonderful for words….
