My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Waiting For His Coming

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:13 Dear Ones: When the Apostle Paul was writing Timothy, his “son in the faith,” he spoke to him concerning his calling and responsibility.  That “charge” was often mentioned in the context of “…the appearing of our…

Stability In The Storm

“And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it be You, bid me come unto Thee on the water.’” Matthew 14:28 As long as there is sin, there will be storms.  Those storms may take various forms, and may vary in strength.  They are declared “storms” because of the power that they possess, and the…

The God Of Revival

“…for I knew that Thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest Thee of the evil.” Jonah 4:2 Dear Ones: Perhaps one of the greatest aspects of the revelation of God in the Scriptures, has to do with man’s total incapacity to realize WHO He is, and…

Taught By The Spirit

“And He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”  John 14:26 Dear Ones: What does it mean to be taught by the Spirit of God?  It means firstly that He is by nature, disposition, and capacity, the greatest Teacher of all.  It is hard…

The Servant And The Spirit

“Behold my servant, whom I uphold, mine elect, in whom My soul delights.  I have put My Spirit upon Him..”  Isaiah 42:1 Dear Ones: Perhaps the greatest testimony of Moses at the time of his death was that he was, as the Lord declared him to be, God’s servant.  Throughout Scripture we find this concept,…

The Spiritual Awakening

“Awake you who are sleeping, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” Ephesians 5:14 Dear Ones: In one of the most extraordinary events in the life of Jesus Christ, He “awakens” someone who had died.  Though Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary, had died, Jesus told His disciples:  “Our friend…

The Gospel’s Power

“I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.” Galatians 1:6 Dear Ones: When the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Galatians, he was addressing “the churches of Galatia.” (1:2)  His concern in writing the letter had to do with a deviation…

For Freedom

“For brethren, you have been called unto liberty.” Galatians 5:13 Dear Ones: What constitutes true freedom?  What IS freedom?  Just the word “freedom” speaks to us of a condition of mind and heart, and perhaps body, where there is the opposite experience.  So, what IS freedom, freedom from what?  And what is heaven’s perspective? True…

The Inheritance Of God

“For the Lord’s portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance.” Deuteronomy 32:9 Dear Ones: It will take eternity to just begin to understand and know the mind and heart of God.  It is true that the believer will know God, even as he is known. (1 Cor. 13:12)  But there is…
