My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Tongues Of Fire

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.” Acts 2:2 Dear Ones: Apart from the death and the resurrection of Christ, the day of Pentecost was perhaps the most dramatic and far reaching event in the history of mankind, for it set in motion the moving…

The Lord’s Gaze

“And the Lord looked upon him, and said, ‘Go in this thy might…” Judges 6:14 Dear Ones: In the gospel of Luke, we find that just after Peter had betrayed the Lord, “…the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter.” (Luke 22:61) That gaze, and the remembrance of Christ’s words to him concerning his betrayal, would…

In The Image Of God

“And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…’” Genesis 1:26 Dear Ones: How far we have fallen from that blessed state and calling of being made in the image of God!!!  The effects of the fall, and the curse and judgment of our sin, has plummeted mankind into a downward…

The Greatest Pursuit

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Matthew 16:26 Dear Ones: One’s perspective of life and its realities is very important.  That perspective will be based on one of two things, men’s “thoughts and ways,” as opposed to those of God.  Humanistic philosophy looks…

The Greatness Of Nations

“For what nation is there so great, who hath God so near unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon Him for?” Deuteronomy 4:7 Dear Ones: In John’s first letter, he writes:  “For the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of…

The Reward Of Faith

“…for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 Dear Ones: There is a great difference between “profession” and “possession” in this life of faith.  Profession is often an intellectual, or emotional, declaration of truth that one may know,…

Walking Among Giants

“…And I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.”   Zechariah 3:7 Dear Ones: In the book of Hebrews, we are brought face to face with what is called “…so great cloud of witnesses.”  The Bible says that we are compassed about, or surrounded, by them.  These are that innumerable multitude of…

Redeemed Without Money

“You have sold yourselves for nothing; and you shall be redeemed without money.” Isaiah 52:3 Dear Ones: If ever there was proof of a good and gracious God, it is declared and revealed to us in the word, “redemption.”  Upon this word hangs the entirety of the meaning, purpose, and end of man.  The word…
