My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

A Life Loved: Which One?

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it.”  Matthew 16:25 Dear Ones: It was said by those who heard Him, that no man spoke as did the Lord Jesus.  Why?  We know that what He said was accompanied by authority, for with…

Before The Foundation Of The World

“According as He has chosen us in Him (Christ) before the foundation of the world…” Ephesus 1:4 Dear Ones: How big is God?  Paul responds to that question by writing:  “…how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out.” (Romans 11:33)  In other words, in our consideration of God, and how “big,” or…

The Voice Of God

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire, a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:12 Dear Ones: One of the old hymn-writers wrote:  “God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform.  He plants His footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm.” …

Majoring On Minor Things

“Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.” Matthew 23:24 Dear Ones: It has been said that, “Fellowship with Christ makes the complicated simple.”  However, it is amazing how many enemies there are to true fellowship with Christ, that life of abiding in Him, deriving all from Him.  This communion is…

The Perpetual Anointing

“But the anointing which you have received of Him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you.” 1 John 2:27 Dear Ones: Most people, in particular believers, have a shallow knowledge of God simply because they do not believe Him according to His word.  Instead of living in the realm of…

The Undistracted Believer

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.” Psalm 37:1 Dear Ones: One of the great values of the Psalms, apart from teaching us so many great and wonderful truths of God, is the related, and validated experience of the Psalmists in their walk and relationship with God. …

God’s Word, Man’s word

“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63 Dear Ones: There is a great difference between the words of God, and those of men.  It is true that both can comfort, strengthen, encourage, and inspire in some way, but there is a fundamental element in the  words…

My Cup Runneth Over

“For I have satiated (filled full) the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.” Jeremiah 31:25 Dear Ones: One of the greatest phrases in the Bible is found in Psalm 23, where David writes:  “…My cup runneth over.”  Why would He write such a thing, and what does it really mean?  First of…

The Constant Revelation Of God

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 Dear Ones: Why is it that we have the recurring theme in the Bible of the unchanging, everlasting character, presence, and power of God?  There are at least…

The Perpetual Witness

“You are My witnesses, saith the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen:  that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He.” Isaiah 43:10 Dear Ones: Why does God work in our lives, bring us to Himself, and begin that monumental work of transforming us into His image?  It is…
