My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Work Of God

“I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:17 Dear Ones: The Apostle Paul makes a most wonderful, and extraordinary statement to the believers in Philippi:  “…For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” (2:13)   Why does…

As It Is In Heaven

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you.” 1 John 1:3 Dear Ones: Christianity is NOT a set of “do’s” and “don’t’s.”  It is rather a revelation and realization of receiving from heaven in order to give.  When the Lord Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray, He told them to pray: …

Controlled Floods

“For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground.” Isaiah 44:2 Dear Ones: There are several illustrations in the Bible that the Lord uses to speak to us of fullness.  For example, in Psalm 104:16, we read:  “The trees of the Lord are full of sap.”  In Psalm…

Chosen To Fullness Of Life

“You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you…” John 15:16 It was to an imperfect, and problem riddled people, that God, through Isaiah the prophet would say:  “But thou, Israel, art my servant…I have chosen you, and not cast you away…Fear not, for I am with you.” (Is. 41:8,10,11)  It would…

Like The Wind: The Spirit

“The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell from where it is coming, and where it is going:  so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 Dear Ones: If ever there was a passage of Scripture that puts man in his helpless and hopeless…

The Singular Call To Christ

“…what is that to thee? YOU FOLLOW ME.”  John 21:22 Dear Ones: The call of Christ of the individual is one that is associated with one’s own name.  “…He calls His own sheep BY NAME, and leads them out.” (Jn. 10:3)  It is a calling that is not only individual, but specific in its demands: …

Ascribing Majesty To God

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name above every name.” Philippians 2:9 Dear Ones: Ascribing worth to someone or something is an act of attributing value.  The Lord Jesus, in seeking to communicate to us the concept of true worth with regard to the kingdom of God, used the illustration…

Transformed By Revelation

“But when it pleased God, …to reveal His Son in me.”  Galatians 1:15,16 Dear Ones: There were two things that radically changed the life of the Apostle Paul.  The first was the revelation of Jesus Christ to him on the road to Damascus.  Before that moment, Paul believed that Jesus of Nazareth was an impostor,…

The Imminence Of Today

“Today if you will hear His voice,…” “…in the day of salvation have I helped you…behold, now is the day of salvation.” Hebrews 3:7, 2 Corinthians 6:2 Dear Ones: How important is “today?”  What makes it important?  And why can we say that “today,” thus far, is the most important day of our lives?  The…
