My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“Your Brother Shall Rise Again”

“And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent you may believe.”  John 11:15 Dear Ones: Who can fathom the ways of God?  It is a true saying, “When we cannot trace His hand, we can trust His heart.”  How else can one explain the Lord’s dealings with this…

Infinite Goodness

“And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31 Dear Ones: One of the greatest arguments that the unbeliever will use to not believe in God, is to say, “If God exists, why then all of this suffering on the earth?”  The problem with this argument is…

Without Doubting

“…and shall not doubt in his heart, but believe…” Mark 11:23 Dear Ones: It is the most logical of all concepts that man should trust in God.  Why?  First, the matter and evidence of His existence is a massive part of the reason.  Who is wiser and more powerful than the Creator, and the Sustainer…

The Remedy

“Thy (the Lord’s mercies) are new every morning.” Lamentations 3:23 Dear Ones: The context of Jeremiah’s book of Lamentations is that of judgement, suffering, and sorrow. And yet, there arises out of that very dark period and experience in the life of the prophet the declaration of hope. It is the hope and expectation of…

The Center-Point Of Humanity

“Is there a God beside Me? Yes, there is no God; I know not any.”  Isaiah 44:8 Dear Ones: God’s revelation of Himself throughout the Bible is qualified again and again by the fact that He declares that HE is the only true and living God.  When He revealed Himself to the people of Israel…

Striking The Waters

“And Elijah took his mantle (cloak), and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided to the one side and to the other…” 2 Kings 2:8 Dear Ones: When the children of Israel came to the Red Sea, with Pharaoh in pursuit of them, the Lord told Moses to take his rod,…

“Yet Not I”

“And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me…God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’” Exodus 41:16 Dear Ones: Christianity has nothing to do with “self,” only with Christ, in union with us by the Spirit, working in and through us to show forth the excellencies of His person, accomplishing His will and…

“I Die Daily”

“…whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.” Romans 14:8,  “For me to live, is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21 Dear Ones; Though the cross is not an instrument of execution that is used frequently today, it does carry with it a certain significance and meaning.  Jesus spoke of a…

How Shall They Hear?

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:34 Dear Ones: Age has nothing to do “The Great Commission” that the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples before ascending into heaven.  Nor does time or circumstance.  The commission to go into…

The Universal Call

“Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages.  Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish…” Song of Solomon 7:11-12 Dear Ones: The heart of God is unlike any other, in particular with regard to the constancy of purpose, and…
