My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Interposing Christ

“Do you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?” John 14:10 Dear Ones: Perhaps the greatest truth revealed to the world, this side of Pentecost, is our union with Christ, He in us, we in Him.  The pattern for our faith in this regard was declared by the Lord Jesus: …

The Enigma, Paradox, and Logic of Christianity

“…The fool hath said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Psalm 14:1 Dear Ones: In this Psalm of David, where this verse is found, we find a declaration concerning the true condition of man.  David wrote, “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that…

The Perfect Friend

“Ye are My friends…” John 15:14 Dear Ones: What is a true friend?  The world has its definition, but is it the same as that of God?  Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.?” (Jn. 15:13)  There is not doubt that at the…

The Trial Of Unbelief

“How long shall I be with you, and bear with you?” Luke 9:41 Dear Ones: It was the day after what is called “The Transfiguration.”  The day of the transfiguration, Jesus had gone up to a mountain to pray, and as He prayed, “…the appearance of His countenance was altered, and his clothes were white…

The Other Side of Jordan

“…NOW, therefore arise, go over Jordan, you, and all this people…” Joshua 1:2 Dear Ones: The Jordan River in the history of Israel is a picture.  For Moses, it would be an impassable river, for the time had come for him to go and be with the Lord.  For Joshua, and most of the people…

God Has Heard Me (#2)

“Call unto Me, and I will answer you…” (Jer. 33:3) Dear Ones: There are at least two kinds of prayer that the Lord hears.  The first is the cry of the heart.  In Psalm 107, four times we find this declaration:  “…Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out…

God Has Heard Me

“…But truly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Ps. 66:19 Dear Ones: One of the most distinguishing characteristics of a believer in Christ, is that God hears and answers his or her prayer(s).  And yet, how much time is given to thoughtful, deliberate seeking of the face of…

The Rock And The River

“He ONLY is my Rock…There is a River…” (Ps. 62.2, 46.4) Dear Ones: What is the consistency of the Rock of which the Psalmist speaks?  Is it made of sandstone, or is it granite?  If we look at the Divine Rock, we see that, not only is there no weakness in its consistency, but there…

Living Before God

“…I charge you (command) therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Tim. 4:1) Dear Ones: It is one thing to walk before men, and live according to the opinions and dictates of men.  It is quite another to live and walk before the Almighty God, who knows all, sees all, and IS “…all…

New Beginnings

“The hair of his (Samson’s head began to grow again after he was shaved.” Judges 16:22 Dear Ones: Samson had a good beginning.  For about twenty years, during which he judged Israel, he remained a “Nazarite” in his heart, one that was separated unto God, consecrated to God for His purposes.  But there would come…
