My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Singular Path To God

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eeternal Spirit, offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14 In the Old Testament, at the time when Israel was being led by Moses towards the promised land, the Lord gave to Moses…

Revelation The Great Announcement

“And they sung a new song, saying’Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” Revelation 5:9 When John the Apostle received the revelation of Jesus Christ on…

In The Fulness Of Time

“But when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” Galatians 4:4 The economy of God, and the timing of man in matters of this earth, are only…

The Sorrowing Christ

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.” Isaiah 53:3 If ever there was a person who had the complete mastery of Himself, and His emotions, it was Christ.  No…

The Imperative Of Refocusing

“Simon Peter saith unto them, ‘I go a fishing.’ They say unto him, ‘We also go with thee.’ They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.” John 21:3 Scripture tells us that the Lord Jesus “shewed Himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias.” (Jn.21:1) This…

The Quest To Know God

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, ‘Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.’” Jeremiah 31:3 Where does knowing God begin?  As in all things which pertain to God, the answer begins with Him.  The Lord Jesus put it like this:  “‘I am Alpha…

The Imminent Coming Of Christ

“For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away.” Matthew 24:38,39 There is in the economy of God a certain reality that He,…

The Enemy At The Gate

“Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and of such as lay in wait by the way.” Ezra 8:31 Since the fall of…

The Day Of Small Things

“Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.” Psalm 8:2 The Bible has a good deal to say about that which we would not normally consider as the instruments of praise, glorifying God.  But, if we would understand…
