My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

A Time For Everything

“But in the fourth generation, they (the seed of Abraham), shall come hither again, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.” Genesis 15:16 Time with God is not the same thing as time with men.  In the Apostle Peter’s second letter, he writes: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,…

The Temple That Had To Be

“Thus saith Cyrus, king of Persia, ‘All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord God of heaven given me; and He hath charged me to build Him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.’” 2 Chronicles 36:23 One of the great reasons for which there is Biblical prophecy, or the declaring by the…

Present Help Present Strength

“The Lord is my light and my strength; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 One of the most extraordinary figures mentioned time and again in the Scriptures is David.  He stands out among the masses as being unique in a time…

Truth Becoming Us

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 It has been said that “truth is not mine, until it becomes me.”  Is there a Biblical precedent for saying such a thing, and…

Great Loss Great Gain

“I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth Thee.” Job 42:5 There is an underlying truth concerning God’s dealings with Job.  Even though Satan has his way with Job to a certain point, and there is great suffering as a result, there is in the end, not…

The Coming Storm And The Certain Hope

“So likewise ye when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” Matthew 24:33 Towards the end of Christ’s ministry, before He was crucified, He spoke of things to come, especially with regard to judgment, but also, of great grace, and the great salvation that is to be…

True Body Life

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13 In one of the great passages of Scripture, the effects of which has resounded throughout history to this very day,…

Three Roles: Sons, Servants, Soldiers

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.” 1 John 3:1 The prelude to Christ’s discourse concerning the last days, specifically the period of the tribulation, is revealed by the deep sorrow, and yet, strength of resolve, concerning Jerusalem who “…killest the prophets,…

The Miracle At Siloam’s Pool

“And said unto him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, which is by interpretation, Sent.  He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.” John 9:7 There is great power even in the simplest words and phrases that the Lord Jesus uttered while He walked and ministered on this earth.  There was one…

The Call Of The Shepherd

“…To Him (the shepherd) the porter openeth, and the sheep hear His voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.” John 10:3 One of the most remarkable aspects of coming to know Christ is the personal attention and concern that He has with every one that belongs to Him.  We…
