My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Race, It’s Meaning And Means

“I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air.”  1 Corinthians 9:26 Dear Ones: What is the great race of which Paul speaks?  It is that certain, and entire, engagement of the whole being, committed to devoting every resource, gift, and capacity, to first of all, KNOW…

Deliverance To The Captives

“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends.” Job 42:10 Dear Ones: What does the word “captive” mean?  It certainly carries with it the thought of being forced to submit one’s will to another.  In the worst possible scenario it means being the prisoner of someone, held against one’s…

The Power Of A Name

“Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 Dear Ones: How important is a name?  The answer to that question really lies in only one source…God.  Why?  As the Creator has made every individual, so has He placed a…

My Kingdom Is Not Of This World

“…But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 Dear Ones: When Jesus began His ministry, He began by preaching:  “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17)  What did He mean by this?  In Psalm 2, David writes…

With All Boldness

“And now, Lord, behold their threats: and grant unto Thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak Thy word.” Acts 4:29 Dear Ones: The darkest day in the history of mankind, from a human standpoint, was that of the crucifixion of Christ.  For His family, followers, and those who had heard of the marvelous…

Custodians Of The Day

“Give us this day our daily bread.”  Matthew 6:11 Dear Ones: How important is a day, and how is it’s worth measured in the eyes of God?  First of all, we see that God created it.  “And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.” (Gen. 1:4)  We also discover in Scripture,…

What Now?

“Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds.” Habakkuk 1:4 Dear Ones: The Lord revealed to Habakkuk that an impending invasion by the Chaldeans was coming.  He even spoke of this event by declaring, “…I will work a work in…
