My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Spiritual Conquest

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, ‘See I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.” Joshua 6:2 After crossing the Jordan River, the people were immediately confronted with the city of Jericho, the walls of which rose in defiance, not only against the people, but against…

The Perils Of Compromise

“Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them.” 2 Kings 17:35 There came a time in the history of Israel that, because of their rejection of God, refusing to adhere to His covenant and obey His commandments, that they became idolatrous, adopting the godless practices…

The Blessedness Of Being Redeemed

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Spirit hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.” Acts 20:28 It has been said that, “…No word in Christian vocabulary deserves to be held more precious than Redeemer, for…

When Christ Is One’s Life

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 One of the great characteristics of the Apostle Paul was that he lived that which he taught and preached.  His knowledge of Christ and His work on Calvary, coupled with the previous outpouring of the…

The Spiritually Awakened Church

The Overcoming Church

“…I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 When the Israelites came out of Egypt, it was by the strong and mighty hand of the Lord, not of Moses.  When they experienced the deliverance at the Red Sea, it was by the Almighty power of God…

The Higher Wisdom Of God

“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves.” Philippians 2:3 In the letter of Paul to the believers in Philippi, he spoke of the mind of Christ.  This was not just a cursory issue to the apostle.  It was the expressed outworking of…

The Prayer Of Solomon

“Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house.” 2 Chronicles 7:1 In Christ’s Sermon on the Mount, He addresses the matter of prayer, especially concerning not only the exercise of it, but…
