My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Beyond Ourselves

“Who hath…weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?” Isaiah 40:12 Dear Ones: What is there beyond one of our lives?  What is there beyond “self?”  Scripture tells us that “…the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance.” (Is. 40:15)  What…

Former, And Things Of Old

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18 Dear Ones: When the two angels came to save Lot, his wife, and two daughters, from being destroyed in the destruction of Sodom, they were told:  “…look not behind thee.” (Gen. 19:17)  The command to not look back had significant ramifications…

Christ, Our Power And Strength

“…The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 Dear Ones: We are so very apt to disassociate ourselves from the strength and power of God because we do not live by the truth of our union with Christ.  When one first sees his or her need of…

Can You Believe?

“…How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” Romans 10:14 Dear Ones: We have established in past devotionals that believing in Christ, in God, is a miracle.  The Apostle Paul writes to the Ephesians:  “…And you hath He quickened (made alive), who were DEAD in trespasses and sins.” (2:1)  The Apostle…

They Have No Wine

“And when they wanted (lacked) wine (…at a marriage in Cana of Galilee…), the mother of Jesus said unto Him, ‘They have no wine.’” John 2:3 Dear Ones: It was a joyous occasion in Cana that day, as most marriages are.  Good wine had been served at the beginning of the festivities, and as was…

The Call To Fellowship

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us:  and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3 Dear Ones: When John the Apostle wrote his Gospel, he declared that eternal life was, “…that they might KNOW…

Where Shall We Buy Bread

“There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many” John 6:9 Dear Ones: In every one of the four gospels we find the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand.  Why would the Holy Spirit bring this to our attention again and again? …

Write It Down
