My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Voice Like A Trumpet

“…A door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me.” Revelation 4:1 Dear Ones: There are at least two instances in the book of Revelation when John the Apostle heard a voice like a trumpet.  Why is this communicated to us, and…

Going Forward In Faith

“And the Lord said unto Moses, ‘Wherefore criest thou unto Me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.’”  Exodus 14:15 Dear Ones: It is one thing to “say” that we believe God.  It is quite another to go forth in faith, believing as you go, in the face of the impossible.  There…

Conviction In A Confused World

“Look unto Abraham your father, and Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 Dear Ones: The tides of history reveal to us upheaval after upheaval, socially, economically, politically, and even religiously.  And yet, as the writer of Ecclesiastes wrote:  “…there is no new thing under…

The Outstretched Hands Of God

“I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts.” Isaiah 65:2 Dear Ones: When we go to the book of Revelation, and we see in heaven the Lamb of God who approaches the throne, John describes him being…

Christ Versus Culture

“…and he (Moses) led the flock to the backside of the desert.” Exodus 3:1 Dear Ones: Can you MAKE God speak to you?  It is a ridiculous question.  How can One so great and glorious, holy and perfect in all of His Person, stoop to the dictates of sinful man?  There is no doubt that…

The Eternal Point Of Beginning

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying ‘Yes, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3 Dear Ones: Where does one begin when seeking to understand the great issues of life, death, sorrow, joy, purpose?  One can choose the normal, and most used route,…

The Perpetual Voice And Revelation

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth forth His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1 Dear Ones: To think, much less to say, that there is no God, has left us alone upon the sea of uncertainty with regard to our purpose and reason for existing.  It is also to deny what is blatantly,…

Two Overwhelming Absolutes

“His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation.” Daniel 4:3, “…and let him that is athirst come.  And whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17 Dear Ones: When one begins to read of God’s dealings with proud Nebuchadnezzar,  it is remarkable that he…

The Night Of Catching Nothing

“…But when morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Him.” John 21:4 Dear Ones: The realization of our expectations and God’s timing can be synonymous, IF we wait on Him.  There came a moment after the resurrection of Christ, after He Had revealed Himself to the…

The Magnitude Of The Spirit

“For whom God hath sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto him.” John 3:34 Dear Ones: What do the words, “the fullness of the Spirit,” really mean?  In the book of Jeremiah, there is a promise that God gives to the priests.  He says:  “I will satiate the…
