My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Judge Of All The Earth

“Fear God, and give glory to Him: for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7 The former verse can be seen today, assuming it has not been removed in protest, on a bronze plaque embedded in a…

Every Thought Captive

“…casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 The spiritual battle in which every believer is engaged, as their enemy and that of God is the same, is one where the battlefield is the…

The Wall That Was Meant To Be

“The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.” Nehemiah 1:3 The travel distance between Shushan, the ancient capital of Persia, and Jerusalem, is about one thousand miles.  In the…

The All-Sufficient God

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 One of the great truths and concepts of Scripture is that God is Everything.  John, in the book of the Revelation begins with the glorified Christ…

The Promise Of The Father

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Acts 2:39 The day of Pentecost is certainly one of the most important moments in the history of mankind.  For those believers living before that day, apart from…

The Road To Heaven

“And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.” 2 Kings 2:1 God does nothing unless He has a purpose in it.  So, why is it that we have this narrative of Elijah and Elisha who are walking together from…

The Permanent Gifts And Calling

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6 In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he speaks of “the gift that is in thee.” (4:14) Paul is not only speaking of the presence and power of…

Led To Christ Our Rock

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation.  He only is my rock, and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” Psalm 62:1-2 The bedrock and foundation of the whole of Christianity is Christ.  The absolute fundamental principle by which one can know the reality of Christ…

Being Led By God

“From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2 It is one thing to know intellectually that God is our rock, our salvation, our shelter in the storm.  But who truly experiences it, proves it, lives…

The Eclipsing Vision Of God

“Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee.” Psalm 73:25 At the end of the day, and standing before the reality of eternity, there is but one great, all-encompassing reality. There is but one Father, eternal in the heavens sitting upon His throne, with Christ,…
