My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Milestone Of “Today”

“…Wherefore as the Holy Spirit saith, ‘Today if you will hear His voice…’” Hebrews 3:7 Dear Ones: God’s assessment of time, specifically with regard to its value and importance, has a direct correlation with opportunity.  When God created what the Bible calls “day,” He did so, not only to demonstrate His sovereign power and authority…

Dwelling In The Land

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” Psalm 37:3 Dear Ones: It is very significant that Abraham was “…called to go out into a PLACE which he should receive for an inheritance.” (Heb. 11:8)  It is also significant, that when Moses brought…

The Spiritual Conquest

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 Dear Ones: When Nicodemus came to Jesus by night, certainly to be able to speak to Him personally without the distraction of others, the Lord spoke very directly…

Paths Of Power

“…that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection.” Philippians 3:10 Dear Ones: When we see, or hear, the noise and sheer demonstration of power as revealed in the mass and volume of water flowing over and down Niagra Falls, we stand amazed, especially as we compare that power with our own.  Equally…

The Goodness Of The Gospel

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” Luke 2:10 Dear Ones: Why and how is the Gospel of Christ…good?  First of all, we need to look at the Author and Finisher of Faith, who has designed the Gospel, and who was the very accomplishment…

The Promise Of His Power

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29 Dear Ones: When Adam and Even sinned in the Garden of Eden, the Lord brought about His word concerning the consequences of sin:  “For in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.” (Gen. 2:17) …

The Overcoming Conqueror

“…In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us…;” “…To him that overcometh…” Romans 8:37, Revelations 3:21 Dear Ones: The call of God to the believer, in the context in which we are called, is to BE a conqueror, an over-comer.  Why is this aspect of the life of a…

In Believing We See

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3 Dear Ones: How is it possible to “make” spiritual reality, the very experience of the power of Christ by the Spirit, our own?  How does…
