My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Compassions And Mercies Of God

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22,23 The prophet Jeremiah was a very sensitive individual, one who felt keenly the suffering of His people, but also, the travesty of not seeing the God of glory…

Fulness Not An Option

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” 1 Timothy 4:1 What is the great deterrent to being deceived, led into temptation, and opposed by the powers of darkness when seeking to do the will of God?  It…

Seeking The Things Above

“Now we have received, not the  spirit of this world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:12 In Paul’s letter to the Colossian believers, he writes: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are…

Living In Expectancy

“Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!” Psalm 144:3 In Psalm 8, and Psalm 144, we find David writing the same thing. Why? Why does this man of faith, led by the Spirit, come again and again to the consideration  of…

The Time Is Now

“I set my face unto the Lord God,  to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.” Daniel 9:3 What moved Daniel to seek the Lord at this time, and this, in such a deliberate, decisive manner?  It was the question of time. Daniel had realized that a “time” had now come. …

God’s Protocol To Power

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13 What is power, spiritual power?  From Scripture we discover that power is a Person.  Christ is power, our power.  His power is communicated to us by the Holy…

The Prayer For Promises Fulfilled

“Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplicaitons, and causeThy face to shine upon Thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.” Daniel 9:17 Prayer is a wonderful thing, not only because of the concept of it, but because of the realization of its purpose.  Ultimately, prayer is…

God’s Faithfulness To Sanctify

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly: and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 The great value and privilege of prayer is that it brings us truly to God, especially when that approach to God…

The Greatness Of The Little

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall come forth unto Me that is to be a ruler in Israel: whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2 In Martin Luther’s great hymn,  A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, he speaks…

The Daily Expected Miracle

“For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring.” Isaiah 44:3 If there is one evidence of expectant faith, it is rejoicing, rejoicing in the Lord. Why? The believer who truly comes to grips…
