My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

God’s Education Given Unto Men

“…The gospel which was preached of me is not after man.  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Galatians 1:11,12 The day and hour of one’s conversion to Christ, and his new birth by the Spirit, was the moment in his history when…

Giving Christ Access To Every Circumstance

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5 In the Christian life there is absolutely no substitute for giving the Lord Jesus access to every circumstance and need. Indeed, as O. Hallesby wrote in…

The Fundamental Of Faith

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”  In the fifth chapter of Paul’s letter to the believers in Rome, again and again he speaks of God giving, or the gifts of God.  One of these gifts is the Holy Spirit in the heart,…

Praying Through To Assurance

“And if we know that he (God) hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” 1 John 5:15 When the Lord Jesus spoke of eternal life, He was not just speaking of an existence that would last forever.  The key word here is “life.”  In that…

Balance In The Christian Life

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 It is one thing to begin a race.  It is quite another to finish well.  The strategy for the short sprint is…

Personal Revival

“And they said one to another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures?’” Luke 24:32 The author of the letter to the Hebrews wrote this concerning the word of God:  “…The word of God is quick (or living) and…

Watching And Waiting

“And (Elijah) said to his servant, ‘Go up now, look toward the sea.’ And he went up, and looked, and said, ‘There is nothing.’ And he said, ‘Go again seven times.’” 1 Kings 18:43 In the New Testament, we find where the lord Jesus used parables to illustrate certain truths and reveal the ways of…

For Jesus’ Sake

“Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of Thy servant, and his supplications, and cause Thy face to shine upon Thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.” Daniel 9:17 The prophets Daniel and Ezekiel were both prophets of the exile.  When they wrote their books they were not in Israel, and thus…

Ready To Meet Christ

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:36 The subject of the return of Christ to the earth is one that is based uniquely upon the declaration and promise of God. …

The Message That God Blesses

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 The letters by the Apostle Paul to his son in the faith, Timothy, are filled with instructions as to how to live, and minister, in the realistic context of his time,…
