My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Single Soul’s Calling

“To him the porter openeth and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.” John 10:3 Dear Ones: In this world, with an increasing number of people, we are apt to be “lost in the crowd.”  Especially, if we are living in an urban area, and…

Divine Pardon

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matthew 6:12 Dear Ones: Throughout Scripture we find the attempt by man to explain that which is of God.  Of course, the Lord Jesus is the Master Teacher in this regard, for not only does He give us the truth, but in essence, breathes upon it…

The Servant’s Heart

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 Dear Ones: One of the most humbling aspects of the Christian life is the reality, and realization, of the eternal God working in the heart and mind of the believer.  In our “modern” perception of…

Delighting And Rejoicing In Christ

“Then thou shalt delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth…” Isaiah 58:14 Dear Ones: One of the saddest effects of Adam’s sin concerns the subject of “delighting.”  What does it mean to “delight thyself?”  Most certainly, there is the element of knowing satisfaction,…

Sentinels Of History

“Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses…”  Hebrews 12:1 Dear Ones: Why do we find in the book of Isaiah that the Lord instructs Israel to:  “Look unto Abraham you father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him?”…

The Fresh, Daily Anointing

“I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”  Psalm 92:10 Dear Ones: When David wrote Psalm 23, he spoke of the present and future experience of the relationship between the Great Shepherd, the Lord, and himself, a sheep.  Just the picture of the Shepherd next to the sheep is an overwhelming illustration of the Eternal Sufficiency,…

The Triumphing Christian

“Now, thanks be to God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14 Dear Ones: The Christian is called upon by God to triumph in this life.  What does it mean, to triumph?  In every consideration of scriptural truth,…

All Things Possible

“With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 Dear Ones: In one of Charles Wesley’s great hymns, he writes:  “All things are possible to him that can in Jesus’ name believe…If nothing is too hard for Thee, All things are possible to me.”  Why are these statements so significant,…

As For Me And My House

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve.” Joshua 24:15 Dear Ones: When Moses was sent by God to Egypt to deliver Israel from slavery, to bring them into the land of promise, He did so with regard to the family unit.  Yes,…
