My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Logic Of Faith

“…for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 Dear Ones: Why can we say that faith is logical, the right thing to practice and embrace, when it comes to the things of God?  First, we have to look…

The Measure Of Greatness

“For I say unto you, among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” Luke 7:28 Dear Ones: What is the measure of true greatness?  What IS greatness?  If we look at the…

Looking Unto Jesus

“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6 Dear Ones: There is a discipline in the Christian life that is essential if we would rise to be where we would aspire to be in our walk, and fellowship, with Christ.  It has to do with “looking unto Jesus.”  What…

God’s Training Of Us

“…for without Me, you can do nothing.” John 15:5 Dear Ones: There are two great objectives that God aims to accomplish in us.  They both have their essence and realization in our hearts and minds.  He works in us to “will and to do of His good pleasure” to first bring us to understand that…

The Worth Of The Gift

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.”  Isaiah 53:5 Dear Ones: What is the measure of the worth of a gift?  Is it not in how much it cost the one giving it?  How about…

Do You Love Me?

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5 Dear Ones: There are many facets to our existence.  There are many occupations, and concepts, as to how we are to live, and for what purpose.  But there is none that…

The Strength Of Meekness

“The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” Psalm 37:11 Dear Ones: Scripture tells us that Moses was “…very meek, above all men which were upon the face of the earth.” (Numbers 12:3)  Scripture also tells us also that Jesus, the very Son of God, was “…meek and…

Wages, Debts, Riches, Reward

“…and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matthew 6:12 Dear Ones: Scripture tells us that we are paid wages for our works.  In the case of sin, Paul writes:  “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)  There is a payment for that which is done, or said, if it is…

The Response To The Revelation

“In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.” Isaiah 6:1 Dear Ones: It is hard for us to grasp the significance of Isaiah’s vision with regard to its magnitude and power.  There is no doubt that the…
