My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Clean Hands And A Pure Heart

“Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin…Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:2,7 In Charles Wesley’s great hymn, “Soldiers Of Christ Arise,” he writes: “Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul, Take every virtue, every…

The House Of The Eternal God

“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15 What is the house of God? Though Scripture deals with the structure of the Tabernacle and Temple…

Christ Our Teacher

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 The day is upon us where there is no other choice than to believe the Lord Jesus’s words,…

Trust Fully And Obey Implicitly

“And the Lord said unto Moses, ‘Wherefore criest thou unto Me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.’” Exodus 14:15 When the Lord gave to Moses the command to tell the children of Israel to “go forward,” there was not yet a path through the sea.  Indeed, Pharaoh was approaching with his…

“For He saith, ‘I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 We all know that a door is a point of entrance, exit, or simply a passage.  That door,…

The Active Anointing

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” Psalm 23:5 Many have been the commentaries and writings on the subject of Psalm 23.  It has to rank in its simplicity and yet, profoundness, with some of the greatest of all writings. …

In Heaven On Earth

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossian 3:2,3 It was Charles Wesley who wrote in one of his great hymns the following: “Let nothing now my heart divide, Since with Thee I am crucified, And live…

Christ Our Armor

“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 In the Apostle John’s book of Revelation, he has a vision of the Lord Jesus Christ in His glory and power.  That which characterized John in order for this to occur is revealed to us by the following declaration: “I…
