My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Overcoming Everlasting Light

“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended (overcame) it not.” John 1:5 Historians tell us that the land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthlim, by the way of the sea, was a land downtrodden by the Assyrians.  Their influence, and other invaders of “the nations,” with their ruthless conquests and the…

The Preciousness And Power Of The Song

“Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing…” Psalm 100:2 What is the value or worth of a song, a hymn, a Psalm, especially with regard to God?  As is the matter of prayer, elements of which are praise, thanksgiving, and supplication, the Hymn and Spiritual Songs are a reflection of one’s…

The Newness Of Time And Opportunity

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22,23 It is unusual, and remarkable at the same time, that the prophet Jeremiah who suffered so greatly because he was so opposed by his enemies, should write in…

The Lord’s Dwelling Place

“…Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.” Psalm 132:5 Where does God dwell?  It is true that He has declared Jerusalem as a dwelling place, chosen by Him, there to associate His name and presence with it.  It is true also that it was at…

The Greatness Of The Shepherd

“And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown glory that fadeth not away.” 1 Peter 5:4 Who is this “Shepherd” of whom Peter speaks?  Of course, it is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ who is coming again.  But in this present day, when David speaks of his Shepherd, and…

This Is Not Your Story

“If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou Me.” John 21:22 In the history of the world there has only been one Apostle Peter.  He was chosen, and raised up by God, to be a unique example of what God can do in and through a person…

The Running Christian

“And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and RAN toward the army to meet the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:48 What was it that made David run towards the Philistine, even towards the Philistine army to meet Goliath in deadly combat?  Was it…

The Expected End

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 It was in dealing with His disciple, Philip, to make of him a man of faith, that the Lord asked him, with over five thousand men around…
