My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Lord What Will You Do?

“Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, ‘Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the works of My hands command ye Me.’” Isaiah 45:11 It is very significant on the day of Christ’s transfiguration, when in the company of Peter, James, and John, and where Moses…

Led By The Spirit Of God

“And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” Luke 4:1 Why is it so difficult at times to trust God to lead us by the Spirit?  The first thing always to consider is our personal vision of God.  Is it according to the…

The Power Of Christ In Us

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that call upon His name.” John 1:12 The Apostle Paul, in writing to the Corinthians, wrote:  “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” (1 Cor. 4:20) From the moment of…

The Imperative Commission

“Jesus saith unto them, ‘My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.’” John 4:34 There came a watershed moment in the life of Jesus, as after His baptism, and returning from the forty days in the wilderness, being tempted by Satan, He stood up in the…

The Centrality Of Communion With God

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 In Paul’s first letter to the believers in Corinth, he states this:  “But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”…

The Life Giving Light

“In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness overcame it not.” John 1:4-5 There is but one Light of the world, and it is God, in Christ.  He IS the light that shineth in the darkness, a light that is pure, good,…

Why Are Ye Fearful?

“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6 There is a basic human nature mechanism which kicks in when personal danger, or danger for those around us, is imminent.  It is fear.  This thought, and emotion, is embedded in us…

Our Ending, God’s Beginning

“Verily, Verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:24 There is a Biblical principle that the Lord Jesus expounded upon, that is essential to understand and to grasp, if we would bear much…
