My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Great Invitation To All Men

“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.  And let him that heareth, Come.  And let him that is athirst come.  And whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17 Throughout Scripture there is the call of God for every man to come to Him, draw nigh to God, believe…

Thankfulness, An Act Of Faith

“In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In the letter of the Apostle Paul to the Roman believers, in his description of those who were under the wrath of God by deliberate choice, he wrote a most revealing truth:  “Because they knew not God,…

Heaven Descending

“Our Father which art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9,10 In Paul’s letter to the believers in Colosse, he wrote:  “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ sitteth on the right…

By The Rivers Of Babylon

“How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let might right hand forget her cunning.” Psalm 137:4-5 It was a terrible memory of the Babylonians coming and destroying Jerusalem.  It was in Jerusalem that God had chosen to have the first temple built, and that by…

The Making Of A Nation

“Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.” Isaiah 41:15 The history of America is a miraculous one.  It began in the hearts and spirits of those, who throughout the ages, have longed for liberty…

The Timelessness Of Scripture

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 The written word of God is as timeless as the Word made flesh, who dwelt among us.  God’s words never deviate in their meaning or effect because they are “Spirit-breathed, and living.  The objective word of God lives by…

The God Of Daniel

“He changeth the times and seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.” Daniel 2:21 Daniel, one of the captives brought to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, has been greatly used by God to influence history.  How can this be, and what did he…

In Wrath Remember Mercy

“And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest Him of the evil.” Joel 2:3 If there is one characteristic about God that explains Him in some measure, and especially as that knowledge applies…

The Approachableness Of Christ

“…Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2:8 When the Lord Jesus was hanging on the cross, He uttered this prayer:  “…Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)  One wonders, as a…
