My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Dominating Perspective Of God

“Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 Dear Ones: In one sense, the whole of the history of Israel, and God’s dealings with her, has its essence and basis in the person of Abraham.  Why?  It is primarily…

A Captive Set Free

“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” Job 42:10 Dear Ones: It seems that when we deal in Scripture with the concept of “captivity,” we are, for the most part, brought to consider the nation of…

The Strength Of Christ’s Servant

“Behold My servant, whom I uphold, mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth.  I have put My Spirit upon Him…”  Isaiah 42:1 Dear Ones: There is no doubt that this verse refers to the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the perfect servant.  But there is a truth embedded in this declaration that applies to every…

The Certainty Of Guidance

“The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach His way.”  Psalm 25:9 Dear Ones: In the book of Isaiah, he writes:  “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me; because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek…” (61:1)  Why does this passage specifically mention…

The Unique Work Of The Spirit

Tangible Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 Dear Ones: The Psalms are a compilation of hidden treasures, not only because there are the real life testimonies of those who have lived by faith, but also, and more importantly, how God in His mercy and grace…

The Imperative Of Forgetting

“And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.” Genesis 41:51 Dear Ones: There is power in forgetting, the effect of which can be the removal of a burden and weight of wrongs, errors, unwanted circumstances and occurrences that…

The Provision And Power Of Peace

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.”  John 14:27 Dear Ones: If ever there was an example of the peace, that blessed calm of spirit and soul that is not of…

Ordinary Vessels And The Outpouring

“Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?” 1 Corinthians 3:5 Dear Ones: Throughout Scripture we find that God chose very unlikely candidates through whom He would accomplish His purposes.  It is true that He worked through  prophets and kings, but…

The Eternal Mystery Revealed

“…And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which  from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 3:9 Dear Ones: What is a mystery?  It is that which is hidden, not yet revealed, but is none the less real. …
