My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“Jesus answered him, ‘If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me.’” John 12:8 Dear Ones: There are no imperfections with God, hence, He requires perfection. This is why His commandments, and His promises, are absolutes. The written expression of God’s purpose, will, and way, corresponds to His character. He is absolute, and…
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 Dear Ones: Jesus once said that, “…In My Father’s house are many mansions…” (Jn. 14:2) There are also in the Father’s house, many brethren…even the redeemed from every tribe, tongue, and nation. If…

“…He leadeth me beside still waters.” Psalm 23:2 Dear Ones: In the context of restoring the soul, David writes that one means the Lord uses to accomplish this purpose, is to lead us into His blessed calm, or quietness. When we speak of “quietness,” we are not speaking of passivity. Waiting quietly upon the Lord…
“…in whom (Christ) you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13,14 Dear Ones: There are many characteristics of the love of God. They are as pure and holy as God Himself, for He IS love. There is one aspect of the love of God which…
“And he said, ‘I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me.’” Genesis 32:26 Dear Ones: What is prayer but the expression of the heart towards God, whether to bless His name, or to petition Him for His blessing? It is first and foremost the great expression of worship, that attributing of worth, praise,…
“These things saith He that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth: and shutteth, and no man openeth.” Revelation 3:7 Dear Ones: What is the essential element to consider when we look at doors that God opens, and those that He closes? …
“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel.” Micah 5:2 Dear Ones: If there is one consistent, dominant theme throughout the Scriptures, it is that God, the Lord Jesus, possess all power and authority…
“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father; He hath declared Him.” John 1:18 Dear Ones: How do we know that God exists? Paul writes to the Romans, “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,…
“Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.” 1 Timothy 2:7 Dear Ones: Perhaps the greatest similarity between the Apostle Paul and the Lord Jesus, was the devotion to God that he had by the Spirit,…
