My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 Dear Ones: There is a constant theme throughout the Bible concerning the littleness of man, even his helplessness. “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” Mark 1:3 Dear Ones: Scripture is very clear about “the way of the Lord.” It is singular, “holy” in that it is separate from all the ways of men, and it is a way of life, and power. One reason for which, in the…

“Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee.” Psalm 73:25 Dear Ones: There are several authors of the Psalms. Perhaps David is the most prominent, but Asaph is another. That which dominates these songs is the vision of the everlasting God, and the knowledge of…
“Moses, my servant is dead; now, therefore, arise, go over ths Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them.” Joshua 1:2 Dear One: Many years before Joshua, and the people of Israel, crossed the Jordan River, the Lord spoke to Abraham concerning a land that he should receive…
“…but I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 Dear Ones: After the resurrection of Christ, and the accomplishment of all that His finished work meant on the cross, Jesus gave to His disciples a mandate, or a commission. To the…
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over few things. I will make thee ruler over many things.” Matthew 25:21 Dear Ones: In the book of Ester, when Haman was seeking to annihilate the Jews, Mordecai, Ester’s uncle, told her words that resonate down the centuries to this very day: “…and…
“…for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain in the first month.” Joel 2:23 Dear Ones: The book of Joel, written in the 9th or 8th century before Christ, brings with it the themes of the…
