My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“…there he built an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.” Genesis 12:7 Dear Ones: There is a great deal of importance given in Scripture concerning places, in particular those places of worship or where the Lord reveals Himself to the individual. “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25 Dear Ones: We do not know how old David was when he wrote Psalm 37. That which we do know is that he declares himself to be old. That declaration carries with…
“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2 Dear Ones: In the book of Hebrews, we find written that Christ, “…through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God.” (9:14) In that…
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” Luke 4:1 Dear Ones: The gospels declare that Jesus, at one point, was led to go into the wilderness…alone. However, He was not alone, as He was accompanied by the Holy Spirit who had…
“‘Take, eat; this is My body.’ And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink ye all of it.” Matthew 26:26,27 Dear Ones: One of the great values of the Psalms is the very evident appropriation of the truth of God, but also, His life. It is for this…
“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, ‘Fear not, I will help thee.’” Isaiah 41:13 Dear Ones To put the matter simply, the power of Christ is always available, but only known if one believes God for it. Why? Because this is God’s way, the way of the…
“Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.” Isaiah 41:9 Dear Ones: There is only one way not to fulfill God’s purpose and calling in the life of a believer. It is simply not believing Him for the knowledge of it, and the grace to fulfill it. The failure to…
