My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

When You Pray

“And Jesus answering said unto them, ‘Have faith in God.’” Mark 11:22 Dear Ones: Probably the greatest affront to God is unbelief, or faithlessness.  We see this in Jesus’ words in response to His disciples not being able to cure a father’s demon-possessed son:  “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with…

Steel In The Soul

“And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, ‘Be strong and of a good courage: for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them.’” Deuteronomy 31:23 Dear Ones: Many have been “great” men and women mentioned in the Bible, who accomplished great feats, in…

God Returning To Restore The Soul

“Therefore thus says the Lord; ‘I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; My house shall be built in it.’” Zechariah 1:16 Dear Ones: The Lord in Scripture goes to great lengths to reveal to us His ways, design, and will, with regard to that which is eternally sure and certain.  Beginning specifically with Abel, to…

Hear Ye Him

“…and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.” Matthew 17:5 Dear Ones: If ever there was an event in the life of the disciples that would provoke a reaction, it was that which occurred on what is called, “the…

The Whole Heart Of God

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.”  Luke 15:23 Dear One: What is the value that God puts on a life?  In the parable of the “prodigal son,” we are confronted with two…

The Secret Place Of God

“…there he built an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.” Genesis 12:7 Dear Ones: There is a great deal of importance given in Scripture concerning places, in particular those places of worship or where the Lord reveals Himself to the individual.  In Abraham’s day, we see where the Lord…

The Cry Of The Just And Innocent

“…I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead.”  Amos 1:13 Dear Ones: The Bible specifically tells us what God hates.  One of those things is the unjust, and inhuman, treatment of children, even in the womb.  In God’s words through His servant Amos, He…

The Truth And The Spirit

“And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4 Dear Ones: When the Lord Jesus was addressing the Samaritan woman,” he made a remarkable declaration, one that would address a real need, and problem, in the heart of…

The Timelessness Of Psalm 37

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25 Dear Ones: We do not know how old David was when he wrote Psalm 37.  That which we do know is that he declares himself to be old.  That declaration carries with…
