My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Rage Of Men And The Wrath Of God

“Why do the heathen rage…,” “…he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.” Psalm 2:1, John 3:36 Dear Ones: In the world in which we live, there are a great many spiritual “constants.”  These are truths, and realities, which are not changed or altered by…

Making A Man Of Faith

“Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 Dear Ones: How does God make a man or woman of faith?  In the book of Isaiah, the Lord says: “Hearken (Listen) to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that…

Exceeding Great And Precious Promises

“According as His divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness…” 2 Peter 1:3 Dear Ones: How is that which is divine, that which is of God, known and experienced in the life?  It is by walking on two feet, one being “surrender” to Christ’s authority, obeying Him, and…

A Rushing Mighty Wind

Strength In The Conflict

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1 Dear Ones: Strength is a great essential in the spiritual conflict in which the believer finds himself.  It is a strength which is from heaven, communicated to us by the Holy Spirit, and lived by an attitude of…

The Path To Usefulness

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 Dear Ones: In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he addresses the issue of time, and its use.  “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (5:16) …

Following In His Steps

“He that saith he abides in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.” 1 John 2:6 Dear Ones: In the book of Isaiah, the Lord speaks to Israel using very comforting words:  “I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that…

A Child’s Faith

“Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would cure him of his leprosy.” 2 Kings 5:3 Dear Ones: At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, he confronted false concepts of true faith. One of the principle “facts of faith” that needed to be understood by the Jews was that…

The Heart That Is Free

“And she (Rebekah) hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water and drew for all his camels.” Genesis 24:20 Dear Ones: The Bible is full of ideas and concepts that are a contradiction to culture and mindsets.  Such is the case concerning the matter of true…

Finding God

“And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.” Daniel 9:3 Dear Ones: People who do not seek God are those who do not believe He truly exists, or that He will answer.  In other words, their concepts of God are erroneous, and…
