My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Victorious Over The Nations

“I will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea.” Exodus 15:1 Dear Ones: It was a momentous day when God delivered Israel from Pharaoh and his army.  There were several things that were remarkable about that day.  The first was that God,…

The Prayer For Change

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it might not grieve me.’” 1 Chronicles 4:10 Dear Ones: The man Jabez is not mentioned much in…

The Essential Vision

“Now we have received, not the spirit  of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1 Corinthians2:12 Dear Ones: In the book of Proverbs, we read: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the…

The Revelation Beyond Creation

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of God, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 Dear Ones: In the first chapter of the Gospel of John, mankind is faced with the greatest revelation of the Eternal God to sinful…

Remembering Rightly

“…Our fathers understood not Thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; but provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red Sea.” Psalm 106:7 Dear Ones: Several are the passages in Scripture where we find God’s command to the believer to “meditate” on the word of God, even day and…

Who Is The King

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 Dear Ones: What is God like?  Though we see His handiwork in creation, catching a slight, but limited glimpse of His goodness in and through His creation, God is unlike anything we could…

The Coin Of Life

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.” Galatians 6:15 Dear Ones: Many are the illustrations in the Word of God, which explain the basic issues of life and eternity.  The Lord Himself would take the common, ordinary objects, practices, and cultural conditions of His day, to bring to…

The Distinguishing Presence

“And he (Moses) said unto Him, ‘If Thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.’” Exodus 33:15 Dear Ones: The “manifest” presence of God is a very real issue.  In John’s gospel, the Lord Jesus spoke these words:  “…and he that loveth Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will…

The One Great Essential

“…You have left your first love.” Revelations 2:4 Dear Ones: If there is one thing that is impossible to do, it is to understand and comprehend God.  In Bimney’s great hymn, “Eternal Light! Eternal Light!, he illustrates this point:  “Oh, how shall I whose native sphere is dark, whose mind is dim, Before the Ineffable…

The Hidden, Overcoming Greatness

“And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray Thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” 2 Kings 6:17 Dear Ones: In the Apostle John’s first letter, he makes a most remarkable, and immensely important statement: “…greater is He that is within you, than he that is in the world.” (4:4)  This short declaration is…
