My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

God’s Method Of Building

“‘I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; My house shall be built in it,’ saith the Lord of hosts.”  Zechariah 1:16 Dear Ones: There is a very visible, and clear, pattern that we discover in God’s dealings with man.  It has been established for us to see and understand from the beginning of the world. …

The Singular Object Of Trust, God

“Whom have I in heaven but Thee?”  Psalm 73:25 Dear Ones: Perhaps one of the most difficult things to have, and to maintain, in the life of a Christian, or disciple of Christ, is the true perception of who Christ truly is.  Why is this so very important?  We grasp one reason by the demand…

The Calling Of God

“…for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 Dear Ones: It was just after the Lord addressed Israel, in her seeking of Him, that He spoke to her to “…look unto the rock whence you are carved out, and to the hole of the pit where you were digged from.”…

The Sinfulness Of Sin

“…but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” Hebrews 9:26 Dear Ones: It is a sad commentary on the nature, and self-centeredness of man, that he should seek to learn how “sinful” sin is, by looking primarily at himself, and his personal…

Saved All Day Long

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly…” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Dear Ones: It is possible to believe God for the new birth by the Spirit, and fail to believe Him for His further, and fuller, work in the heart and life.  The same God who “draws” us to Christ, working in us that…

The Normal Life Of Rejoicing

“I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.” Psalm 145:1 Dear Ones: What is the “normal” Christian life?  The answer to that question is quite extensive because one has to deal with the great reality and truth of one’s union with Christ, and the manifestation…

The Sermon In Samaria: Worship

“…the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23 Dear Ones: In John’s gospel, we find the story of a woman who had had five husbands, and was living with a man who was not her husband.  The evident fact revealed in the life of this woman was that she…

It Is Time To Awaken

“Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” Ephesians 5:14 Dear Ones: There are three calls to “awaken” in the 51st and 52 chapters of Isaiah.  The first has to do with praying for God to do so. (51:9)  What does this mean?  Is God ever asleep?  No,…

The King And The Kingdom

“My kingdom is not of this world.”  John 18:36 Dear Ones: In the book of Isaiah, we have one of the clearest presentations of what the kingdom of God is, and who IS the King: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the GOVERNMENT shall be upon His…

A Believer’s Manifesto

“The Lord IS my Shepherd…” Psalm 23:1 Dear Ones: Have you ever noticed in David’s writings, especially as revealed in the Psalms, the two phrases where he says, “…The Lord IS…,” and “The Lord is MY..?”  Over and over again he uses these two phrases to declare what God IS according to the truth of…
