My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Anointed With Fresh Oil

“…Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” Psalm 23:5 Dear Ones: It is impossible to believe God for the filling of the Spirit if one cannot believe Him for thorough cleansing from sin.  This does not mean that we arrive at a state of sinless perfection.  That is on the agenda, for…

The Race Set Before Us

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10 Dear Ones: “Opportunity,” or an open door, is a wonderful thing.  It begins with “time,” a time in which to do good.  Our lives are defined to a great extent by…

Too Big To Be Useful

“Seekest great things for thyself?  Seek them not.” Jeremiah 45:5 Dear Ones: We all have a natural tendency to want to BE great, and to DO great things.  This is all and good if God is in the design.  For example, Moses became great, and did great things.  Daniel and Paul also were great men,…

The Great Reward

“When you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God upon this mountain.” Exodus 3:12 Dear Ones: How real is Jesus Christ to you?  The issue of the personal revelation of Christ to the heart is a central theme throughout the Bible.  The knowledge of God is the highest of pursuits…

The Deep Love Of Christ

“…And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge,  that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19 Dear Ones: If there is one word which could express, and communicate to us, the highest and most eloquently beautiful attribute of God, it is the word “love.”  But, this love is…

The Power Of Pardon

“…and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6 Dear Ones: The concept of forgiveness of sins, or pardon, was born in the heart of God before the world began.  So was its means and method.  To understand the power of the pardon of God, we have to go back…

Pentecost, Prelude To The Rapture

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”  Isaiah 59:19 Dear Ones: The rapture of the church, with regard to the period of the tribulation, mentioned in the book of Revelation, is just as feasible, possible, and certain, as the outpouring of…

The Key To Jesus’ Life

“And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him.” Luke 3:22 Dear Ones: Throughout the life of Christ, from his miraculous birth to the moment that He gave up his spirit, dying on the cross, the key to His success, and the realization of the purpose and will of the…

A Life Loved: Which One?

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it.”  Matthew 16:25 Dear Ones: It was said by those who heard Him, that no man spoke as did the Lord Jesus.  Why?  We know that what He said was accompanied by authority, for with…

Before The Foundation Of The World

“According as He has chosen us in Him (Christ) before the foundation of the world…” Ephesus 1:4 Dear Ones: How big is God?  Paul responds to that question by writing:  “…how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out.” (Romans 11:33)  In other words, in our consideration of God, and how “big,” or…
