My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“Oh that I knew where I might find Him!” Job 23:3 Dear Ones: There are many reasons for seeking God. Most of them seem to come from an acute need to be saved, or delivered, from something. For Jonah, it was deliverance from the belly of a fish, an impossible situation. For Job, it was…
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man comes.” Matthew 25:13 Dear Ones: There were many themes, and subjects, which the Lord Jesus taught on. “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praise unto Thy name, O Most High.” Psalm 92:1 Dear Ones: Why is it that, in reading the Psalms (which are songs…), we find the continual theme of singing unto the Lord, giving thanks, praising and rejoicing in Him? What is…

“…and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Dear Ones: God’s works and possibilities begin where ours cease. What do we mean by this? If there is one thing that the word “prayer” declares to us, it is…
“Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.” 2 Samuel 22:37 Dear Ones: In several places in the Old Testament, different writers have used a similar illustration to communicate the action, or work of God in their lives, and this in times of great upheaval, change, and pressure. In…
