My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Strength In Joy

“Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry (grieved), for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 Dear Ones: The Gospel of Christ is a most extraordinary declaration…

The Tent And The Altar

“He (Abram) moved from there unto a mountain…and pitched his tent…and there he built an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.” Genesis 12:8 Dear Ones: How is it that Abram became the “father of faith,” with God telling Israel:  “Look unto Abraham, your father, and unto Sarah that bare…

The Prayer For Abiding

“And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.”  1 John 5:15 Dear Ones: When the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Romans, he was very clear when it came to effectual prayer, prayer that would be answered.  Perhaps the…

Ministers Of Fire

“Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures.”  Luke 24:32 Dear Ones: Scripture calls God “…a consuming fire.”  When God revealed Himself to Moses, Scripture again tells us, “….And the angel of the Lord appeared to him IN a flame…

All Day, Every Day

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…” Luke 4:18 Dear Ones: One of the great doctrines of Scripture is the “omnipresence” of God, God being everywhere.  David would even write on this subject:  “If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy…

Thanksgiving 2019

“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Dear Ones: In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he writes concerning those who refuse to see the attributes of God in creation: “…when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, NEITHER WERE THANKFUL.” (Rom.…

Dwelling In God

“Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort.” Psalm 71:3 Dear Ones: I believe it was John Wesley who had such a hard time coming to grips with salvation by faith, and faith alone.  One very wise brother in Christ told him, “Preach it until it becomes real.”  And such is the case…

The God Of The Covenant

“And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thy seed exceedingly.” Genesis 17:2 Dear Ones: What is a “covenant?”  When we take our Bibles, and open them, we find that they are basically divided into what is called the Old and New “Testaments.”  As is the case with all languages,…

Credentials To Pray

“And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.” John 17:5 Dear Ones: One of the hardest concepts to truly grasp, and live by, is that of the preeminence of Christ, laying hold of the fact that He was not only…

Lord, To Whom Shall We Go?

“…And behold, a voice out of the cloud which said, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Hear ye Him.” Matthew 17:5 Dear Ones: There are a lot of things that we will never know about God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.  In fact, the farther we walk with and before…
