My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

True Worth

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor and glory, and blessing.” Revelation 5:12 Dear Ones: God opened for John the apostle a door in heaven, through which he would go to see and hear that which he had never seen or heard before.  The…

Running Now, Finishing Well

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7 Dear Ones: From the moment that Paul met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, that which was “eternal” dominated him.  He was confronted with that which applied to time and space, but went infinitely…

Resolute Recovery

“And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.” Mark 10:50 Dear Ones: One of the great stories of the New Testament has to do with a blind beggar named Bartimaeus.  There are many interesting, and arresting, aspects to the story, but one that is most important, and singular, is the determination of…

The Essential Of Remembering

“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.” Revelation 2:5 Dear Ones: Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, tells us that there is a time for everything.  Two things that are opposite in nature, for which there is a time, is the act of remembering and that of forgetting. …

The Power Of Truth

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 Dear Ones: Why are these words from the Lord Jesus so very important?  Perhaps it would be good to answer this question by making the distinction between “facts” and “truth.”  “Facts” are truth, from an objective standpoint, for they tell…

The God Of The Promise

“…she (Sara) judged Him faithful who had promised.” Hebrews 11:11 Dear Ones: To trust in God according to His word, His commandments, and His promises, is NOT a risky business.  It may be a matter of decision at a certain moment, or the patient endurance and steadfastness required to wait upon God.  In any event,…

Peering Into The Eternal

“In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.”  Isaiah 6:1 Dear Ones: Isaiah penned the aforementioned words some time around 700 B.C.  If we go to the book of Revelation, we discover that the vision of God…

The Choice For Truth

“To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.”  John 18:37 Dear Ones: It was quite a profound conversation that Jesus had with Pilate before He was delivered to the soldiers to be crucified.  Jesus, knowing Pilate, made use of a…

The Pursuit Of Balance

“Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.”  Psalm 131:1 Dear Ones: How is it that King David can write that he does not “…exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me?”  Is he…

Knowledge Never Lost

“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 Dear Ones: It was in Jesus’ “high-priestly prayer,” in John 17, that He made a most extraordinary, profound, and fundamental statement, pertaining to our existence and reason for existing:  “And THIS is life…
