My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Eternal Comparisons

“…notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he (John the Baptist).” Matthew 11:11 Dear Ones: It is very difficult for us to grasp the “eternal,” and the full manifestation of the kingdom of heaven.  We get some idea of the contrast when the Apostle Paul writes, “How that he…

Precious Faith

“Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! For he would cure him of his leprosy.” 2 Kings 5:3 Dear Ones: Faith is a very unusual thing.  For one thing, it can be just as real and effective in the heart of a child as in that of the prophet of…

A Time Of War

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  Ecclesiastes 3:1 Dear Ones: Solomon was a very wise man, one who could summarize the ebb and flow of life in a very few words.  And so he did in the book of Ecclesiastes.  Now, we must ask the…

The Witness Of The Spirit

“For ye shall go forth with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing.” Isaiah 55:12 Dear Ones: How does God reveal Himself to us?  How do we KNOW that He is speaking to us?  It has always been the case, as we find…

For This Child I Prayed

“…For who hath despised the day of small things?”  Zechariah 4:10 Dear Ones: It was the manner of John the Baptist’s birth, and manner by which he was named, that those who heard of it would say:  “What manner of child shall this be!” (Luke 1:66)  Jesus would later say of John, “Among those that…

The Foreknowledge Of God

“…and who knows whether you are come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 Dear Ones: All through Scripture we find the concept of the existence of God before the creation, and before “tomorrow.”  With that idea comes the truth of “predisposition,” a wisdom beyond our comprehension concerning time, the past,…

Undeterred Pursuit

“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.” Judges 8:4 Dear Ones: One of the great rules and laws of the harvest is that, “…in due season we shall reap, IF we faint not.” (Gal. 6:9)  Endurance, and the quiet, patient…

The Making Of The Man

“Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord sees not as a man sees; for the man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 Dear Ones: Certainly, the ways of God are not those of…

Established And Unwavering

“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:25 Dear Ones: One of the great reasons for which David was such a great man, in spite of his failures, was that he was a…

Peace Passing Knowledge

“And the peace of God which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 Dear Ones: The Apostle Paul was probably one of the greatest intellectuals of his day, and yet, he would write of something that he knew, and experienced, but could not explain or understand.  This is…
