My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Unexpected Visit

“And the Lord appeared unto him (Abraham) in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.” Genesis 18:1 Dear Ones: The Lord “visits” us when He deems so at the appropriate moment, and usually in a manner that we are not expecting.  After the resurrection, when…

That No Flesh Should Glory

“According as it is written, ‘He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.’” 1 Corinthians 1:31 Dear Ones: Our view of God, His nature, and that which is right in His eyes, has become skewed, and reduced to the “man-made” level of mediocrity, because of the infringement of humanism, the worship of man.  Paul…

The Soul’s Satisfaction And Fullness

“For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9 Dear Ones: When Isaiah writes that Christ was “…despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief,” (Is. 53:3) we are immediately transported to the mirror that reveals things as they are.  Earlier in the book…

Faith Is The Victory

“And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4 Dear Ones; The elderly Apostle John, who had in essence, “climbed the steep ascent of heaven, through peril, toil, and pain,” commands our attention in one of his last letters, with the fact that faith is KEY to knowing the…

The Eternal Day … Today

“This is the day which the Lord has made…” Psalm 118:24 Dear Ones: We are apt to think of a day as a time frame of twenty-four hours in which we live, work, carry on with the duties and blessings of life.  However, from God’s standpoint, it is of far greater significance, value, and importance. …

A Witness Unto All Nations

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world.” Matthew 24:14 Dear Ones: One of the age-old arguments for not believing in the second coming of the Lord Jesus, and this is affirmed in Scripture, is that we have waited now for over two thousand years, and He has not come. …

The Coming Storm

“…therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.”  2 Kings 22:17 Dear Ones: One of the principle reasons for which God chose to judge Israel, and Judah, with respect to the exile and deportation, was the provocation of Manasseh.  In 2 Kings 23:26, it is written:  “The Lord turned…

Tongues Of Fire

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.” Acts 2:2 Dear Ones: Apart from the death and the resurrection of Christ, the day of Pentecost was perhaps the most dramatic and far reaching event in the history of mankind, for it set in motion the moving…

The Lord’s Gaze

“And the Lord looked upon him, and said, ‘Go in this thy might…” Judges 6:14 Dear Ones: In the gospel of Luke, we find that just after Peter had betrayed the Lord, “…the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter.” (Luke 22:61) That gaze, and the remembrance of Christ’s words to him concerning his betrayal, would…
