My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“…the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15 Dear Ones: One of most descriptive commentaries on who Satan is, according to the Lord Jesus, was: “…He was a murderer from the beginning, and remained not in the truth, because there is…
“Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22 Dear Ones: The most illogical of dispositions of heart and mind, which is at the same time the greatest affront to God, is the refusal of the heart to believe in Him, and to trust Him implicitly according to His word. Why is this so? First of all the…
“But the anointing which you have received of Him abides in you.” 1 John 2:27 Dear Ones: God has provided for us such a great salvation in Christ, that TODAY, we are “free” to run this race set before us, “supplied” with every resource to do so “every morning” of every day. As an example…
“…and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalms 1:3 Dear Ones: There is a difference between “prosperity” and “prospering.” The Lord Jesus laid aside His glory, the “prosperity of heaven,” humbled Himself, to become a servant. Did He have great “prosperity” from a world’s standpoint? No. Was He prosperous in that which the Father committed into…
“And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” Ephesians 2:1 Dear Ones: The whole of creation and the work of redemption is predicated on POWER. Every intervention, act, or intention of God, is in some way a demonstration and proclamation of His power. When God spoke creation into existence, the result…
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” 2 Timothy 3:1 Dear Ones: When the Apostle Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost to announce that the prophecy of Joel was now realized, he began by quoting Joel: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,…
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor and glory, and blessing.” Revelation 5:12 Dear Ones: God opened for John the apostle a door in heaven, through which he would go to see and hear that which he had never seen or heard before. The…
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Dear Ones: From the moment that Paul met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, that which was “eternal” dominated him. He was confronted with that which applied to time and space, but went infinitely…
“And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.” Mark 10:50 Dear Ones: One of the great stories of the New Testament has to do with a blind beggar named Bartimaeus. There are many interesting, and arresting, aspects to the story, but one that is most important, and singular, is the determination of…
“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.” Revelation 2:5 Dear Ones: Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, tells us that there is a time for everything. Two things that are opposite in nature, for which there is a time, is the act of remembering and that of forgetting. …
