My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, ‘How long are you slack (tardy…late) to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers has given you?” (Joshua 18:3) Dear Ones: In the book of Hebrews, we find an exhortation that is so very important. “Let us therefore fear, lest a PROMISE…
“And when she saw him (Gabriel), she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this should be.” Luke 1:29 Dear Ones: There is a short phrase in Scripture, which is used several times to convey the sovereign “timing” of the revealing of God’s works and purposes. It is: “In the fullness…
“He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 Dear Ones: The Lord, in addressing Israel, in light of the declared, “new beginning,” and the openness of opportunity because of His declared blessing, told them: “Sing…break…
“And Elijah said unto Ahab, ‘Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.” 1 Kings 18:41 Dear Ones: What is the significance of rain? Perhaps if we compare a sprinkler system in a yard, as opposed to the downpour of a torrential rain, we might have some idea…
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” Amos 8:11 Dear Ones: Physical hunger and thirst are very real to us, as they are the evidence of need…
“Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.” Isaiah 54:2 Dear Ones: From a historical standpoint, we discover that great advancements have been made in the fields of science and technology by going beyond the existing bounds of…
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” Ephesians 6:10 Dear Ones: In a football game, generally there are not a great deal of “great” plays. It is a game of wit, strategy, talent and strength. Most of what occurs in that game is in the play after…
“…Be anxious for nothing…” Philippians 4:6 Dear Ones: In Annie Marston’s great hymn, “I Thank Thee, Lord,” she writes concerning the peace of God, and the experience of that peace: “I take Thee for my peace, O Lord, My heart to keep and fill, Thine own great calm, amid earth’s storms, Shall keep me always…
“…he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, …and the Lord wrought a great victory.” 2 Samuel 23:12 Dear Ones: If our worship of Jesus Christ in His glory, does not result in us “falling down” before Him because of being overwhelmed, we might wonder if we have “seen” Him as He…
