My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“…because He is at my right hand, I shall NOT be moved.” Psalm 16:8 Dear Ones: There are two great realities, among many, that the Christian needs to ever remember. The first is that God has put us IN Christ Jesus, made us one with Him, complete in Him, there being NOTHING that can separate…
“Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 Dear Ones: Where does a good and clean conscience come from? And, how is it possible to live a life “void of offence” towards God? Also, how is it possible, living in this fallen world, to be kept…
“And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me…” Revelation 22:12 Dear Ones: It has been over two thousand years since the Apostle John penned these words of Christ. Many have said since then that this “hope of His coming” will never be realized, and that the mention of the “day of His…
“…Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 Dear Ones: In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he pinpoints the very essence of the spiritual warfare that we, as Christians and disciples of Christ, are engaged in. He deals with the battle for the mind,…
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 Dear Ones: The Bible is not specifically a science book. And yet, there are times, when reading through its pages that we discover something of science that is profound. This passage in Hebrews is an example of this. …
“Thou art worthy to take the book, and to loose its seals…” Revelation 9 Dear Ones: There is one supreme, clarion sounding message throughout the entire testimony of Scripture, and it is concerning LIFE. Immediately, let’s distinguish the difference between “existence” and what the Lord Jesus called, “Life.” When we are born into this world,…
“…Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost.” Ezekiel 37:11 Dear Ones: Hope is a very powerful thing. The power of hope, it’s capacity to endure, traverse, and overcome adversity and apparent “hopelessness,” resides in the OBJECT of hope. That which distinguishes “hope” in the things of the world, and that…
“…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:5 Dear Ones: One of the saddest commentaries of “powerlessness” is found in the history of Israel, when, during and perhaps after the deportation she would declare: “…Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut…
“And how shall they preach except they be sent?” Romans 10:15 Dear Ones: The great mission of God to send a Savior into the world, to save the world, began in the heart and mind of God, “…from the foundation of the world.” (Rev. 13:8) It is for this reason that we see that Christ,…
“…seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.” Colossians 3:1 Dear Ones: If there is one thing that the Gospel of Christ gives us, it is “expansion,” expansion of vision and possibilities. For example, let us ask the question, “Can we compare what we ‘ask or think’ with…
