My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“For the love of Christ constrains us…” 2 Corinthians 5:14 Dear Ones: In one of the most beautiful words in Scripture, Zephaniah writes: “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee…
“…greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 Dear Ones: How big, how great is God? One of the “great” words that helps us in our concept of just how great He is, is the word, “Almighty.” When God revealed Himself to Abraham at the occasion…
“‘Rejoice in the Lord always:’ and again, I say, ‘Rejoice.’” Philippians 4:4 Dear Ones: Many have been the books written on the subject of how to live above life’s difficulties, problems, and suffering. But nowhere is there a more simple, and yet profound, directive than that used by the Apostle Paul in his letter to…
“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and BY HIS STRIPES we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 Dear Ones: Our enemy, Satan, is not only a murderer, an accuser, but primarily, a deceiver and liar. Over and over in the Scriptures we see…
“Remove your way far from her, and come not near the door of her house: lest you give your honor to others, and your years unto the cruel.” Proverbs 5:8 Dear Ones: In the book of Daniel, we read concerning “the time of the end,” that “…knowledge shall be increased.” (12:4) What kind of knowledge…
“Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have, I give to you.’” Acts 3:6 Dear Ones: In the story of Elisha and the widow’s oil, as recorded in 2 Kings 4:7, we discover a most remarkable principle, and certainty, with regard to paying one’s debt. The story is told…
“…when you pray, enter into your closet (room), and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6 Dear Ones: What is that thing that means most to God? It is the love and respect of His…
“He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:3 Dear Ones: One of the great values of the Psalms is that they are a testimony of experiences lived, especially as they relate to knowing God. In…
“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:2 Dear Ones: We have a tendency to disassociate the teaching on the Spirit of God in creation from that of the “outpouring” on the day of Pentecost in the New Testament. In one sense, we do this to our peril, for…
