My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself.” Acts 2:39 Dear Ones: The Bible has a great deal to say about promises. At the very outset of considering this matter, we must make the…
“He leads me beside the still waters…” Psalm 23.2 Dear Ones: “Stillness” is something that is usually not engaged in, or it is feared. In western culture, we are tempted to “do, do, do,” when the Bible tells us that there are times when we are to be still and wait. Let us be clear…
“…Be not afraid, neither dismayed: for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 Dear Ones: Life is filled with distractions, and some of them can be very serious ones. In speaking of the Lord’s second coming, and the “end of the world,” the Lord Jesus said: “And you will hear…
“…His Divine power has given unto us all things…whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the Divine nature.” 2 Peter 1:3,4 Dear Ones: There came a very momentous day in the life of Joshua, after Moses had died, that the Lord spoke to him…
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18 Dear Ones: It is very interesting to note that in Joel’s prophecy concerning the out-pouring of the Spirit in “the last days,” and which was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, the Lord specifically said: “…your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men…
“Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the works of My hands command ye Me.” Isaiah 45:11 Dear Ones: Christianity is an interactive exchange of life between God and man. The most fundamental component of this relationship is communion, fellowship. We see this in the matter of prayer, and the worshipful…
“But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of Me, O Israel.” Isaiah 43:22 Dear Ones: There are several instances in the Scriptures where the Lord tells certain individuals, or anyone who will hear, to call upon Him. To Jeremiah in prison, He would say, “Call upon Me, and…
“…that I may KNOW Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.” Philippians 3:10 Dear Ones: When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden before the Fall, all was perfectly GOOD. There was the free flow of Life from the heart of…
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7 Dear Ones: There is what we might call, “the progression of faith,” in the Christian life. In the beginning of our walk with Christ, one is often more preoccupied with running from sin, than walking with the Lord. The concept and reality of the…
“For I am a man under authority…Truly I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” Matthew 8:9,10 Dear Ones: The mention of the “kingdom of God” normally does not stir us, perhaps because the terminology and the concepts are so foreign to us in this “modern” society. And…
