My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“And ye are complete in Him (Christ), which is the head of all principality and power.” Colossians 2:10 Dear Ones: At the beginning of the Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he makes a most bold and remarkable statement: “But of Him (God) are ye IN Christ Jesus, who of God IS MADE UNTO…
“…And with His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:6), “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them.” (Jeremiah 33:6) Dear Ones: Christianity is so remarkably different from every other religion that has ever existed simply because it begins with what has been perfectly, completely finished. The life of a Christian…
“Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head.” Isaiah 51:11 Dear Ones: It is a consistent occurrence in Scripture to find joy being expressed by singing. This pattern was first established after the creation in the Garden of Eden. Isaiah writes…
“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” Isaiah 32:17 Dear Ones: There has never been one so calm and quiet as the Lord Jesus. When we go out into the wilderness, into the forests of the towering mountains, by a still, mirror like lake,…
“Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts 3:6 Dear Ones: In the days following Pentecost, and the outpouring of the Spirit, Philip came to Samaria to preach the Gospel. However, it would not be until…
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” Ephesians 6:10 Dear Ones: When Joshua was given the responsibility of leading the people of Israel into the promised land, he was faced with a monumental task. It is true that he had seen how the Lord met Moses, guiding…
“According to your faith be it unto you.” Matthew 9:29 Dear Ones: What are we specifically trusting the Lord for? James tells us in his epistle: “…You have not because you ask not.” (4:2) He then adds: “…(You) receive not because you ask amiss” (v.3). The big thing to grasp here is that God DOES…
“And ye shall receive power…,” “…according to the power that worketh in us.” Acts 1:8, Ephesians 3:20 Dear Ones: Something occurred in the Garden of Eden which we rarely talk about. When the Lord told Adam that, “…in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die,” (Gen. 2:17), He spoke of a key…
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” Colossians 3:1 Dear Ones: Christianity begins with Christ’s cry of finality: “It is finished.” The work is done, cannot be added to or altered in any form or fashion. It is as final…
“Behold, I come quickly…I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Revelation 22:12,13 Dear Ones: It is apparent by Jesus’ own words that, what He desires that we begin and end with, as a result of this revelation of Himself, is that He IS the beginning and ending…
