My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Transforming Revelation

“…His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire.” Revelations 1:14 Dear Ones: When John the Apostle wrote the book of the Revelation,  he began with the words: “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto His…

Heavenly Food

“…My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.” John 4:34 Dear Ones: When we read the words, “Heavenly Food,” we almost always think of the manna mentioned in the Old Testament.  However, the words of Christ, “….I have meat(food) to eat that you know not of,”…

The Rest Of Faith

“…Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him…” Psalm 37:7 Dear Ones: In the ministry of Jesus, we find often that He calls the individual to “Come unto Me” (Him).  Many are the benefits of responding to this call.  One of them is a “rest” that He gives.  He calls it:  “…rest unto your…

How Long?

“How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?” Revelations 6:10 Dear Ones: The question, “How long,” has several applications in Scripture.  Here in the book of Revelation we see how that it is the call of the martyrs who have been…

Remember Me

“For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Luke 22:16 Dear Ones: Jesus Christ is the most amazing man ever to have existed, and this for many reasons.  But primary among them all is the fact of the love of God revealed…

“Right-ness,” God’s Perspective

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags.” Isaiah 64:6 Dear Ones: What is “RIGHT?”  There is that which man would say is right, and that which God says is right.  The difference is like the distance of the heavens above the earth.  On the one hand,…

A Mission Postponed

“…But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.” Jonah 1:3 Dear Ones: The knowledge of God is a great catalyst, and response, to “drifting” or “neglecting the calling of God.”  In the case of Jonah, we see a deliberate defiance to his ministry and mission because of blatant prejudice…

Taking The Position Of Faith

“If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 Dear Ones: There is “daily bread” and God’s mercies, which are new “every morning,” and there is also a DAILY cross.  What does this mean?  It means a taking of a position of…

The Primacy of Worship

“…And there he (Abram) built an altar to the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.” (Genesis 12:8) Dear Ones: As far as we know, there was no altar in the Garden of Eden.  Why?  Because before Adam fell (sinned), there was no need for a sacrifice.  Instead of a specific place and…

Moses: Three Times Saved

“…God called him out of the burning bush, and said, ‘Moses, Moses.’  And he said, ‘Here am I.’” Exodus 3:4 Dear Ones: The story of Moses is a most intriguing, and instructive one.  We find him born into a context of suffering and oppression, at a moment when survival for newly born boys was very…
