My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:2 When the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, presenting to them in detail the content, meaning, and outworking of the Gospel, he spoke also of the work of God, that “work” by which sinful…
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:34 It was Moses who in his psalm and prayer 90, wrote: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (v.12)…
“…Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” Ephesians 3:8 There is a radical change which occurs in every heart of every believer the moment he comes to Christ, and is born again. It takes a…
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1,2 If ever there was a Psalm which revealed how the Lord “helps” those who truly seek Him, it is Psalm 34. In the early days of David’s flight…
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. The Lord IS my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24 The Christian, or disciple of Christ, is called to live in the present moment. …
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 There are those who believe that Christ did NOT die on Calvary for all men, that they should be saved. There…
