My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity,” “…for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalm 133:1, 3 Most certainly the greatest example and power of unity is found in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From the creation, when God said, “…let US…
“And He answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, ‘Behold, I have causeed thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.” Zechariah 3:4 It was Deitrick Bonhoffer who said, “When Christ calls a…
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 What does it mean for the believer to “seek things above,” even coming before the throne of grace? It means that we are to seek things that are not…
“Shew me Thy ways, O Lord; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation, on Thee do I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4,5 Preconceived ideas are often the enemy of guidance, not that they might have a certain merit from a human…
“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.” Genesis 32:24 Faith is an individual matter when it comes to seeking God. One may be with those of like faith, but at the end of the day, one is faced with Jesus’ words to Peter: “If…
“Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.” Joshua 1:2 The Jordan River is a landmark in Biblical history, especially as it applies to the nation of Israel. It is a…
“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:2 When the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, presenting to them in detail the content, meaning, and outworking of the Gospel, he spoke also of the work of God, that “work” by which sinful…
